Madeline Schultz
Madeline is a Resident in Counseling at Full Life PC under the supervision of Hunter Teets, MA LPC (VA license #0701005525). She creates a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and safe space for clients to explore their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Madeline pulls from person-centered and psychodynamic theories, CBT, and DBT in her work, and collaborates with her clients to tailor her work to their needs. She believes that the counselor-client relationship is one of the most important pieces of the therapeutic process and encourages her clients to utilize it to practice communication, self-advocacy, and boundary setting.
After spending her undergraduate years at William & Mary, Maddie graduated with her M.Ed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University in Chicago, IL. She spent two years working in an eating disorder partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program, where she worked with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds in the Chicago area. She primarily works with older adolescents and adults. She is a HAES-aligned (Health at Every Size) clinician and believes that personal well-being is more important than a number on a scale. She is passionate about dismantling diet culture and helping others identify ways in which diet culture has shaped their understanding of health and wellness. In addition to eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image, Madeline has experience working with anxiety, depression, self-injury, substance use, and life transitions.
Whether you are just beginning your therapy journey or returning after some time away, Maddie considers it a privilege to work with you.
